Pictorial Update

Pumpkin vs. Pooches

So there I am sitting outside in my screened porch area on a very, very cold for GA Jan morning. I'm wrapped in a blanket and sipping coffee while watching Pumpkin and Pooky enjoy "outside". The yappy pups, realized that we were within barkable distance and began yapping away. Well, Pooky got fed up and went back in, but Pumpkin did not. She tried to ignore them by watching the leaves blowing in the breeze. I could tell she was getting fed up because her ears kept going back until they were almost flat.

She moved over to face them and hunkered down until she got really round and puffy looking. Pumpkin was staring down the puppies. The barking started tapering down and I could tell they were getting nervous when the little beige one turned his back to her. The black and white one made a scared sounding yip and took off. Beigey soon followed.

After she was satisfied that that they were gone for good, she came up to me all happy wanting praise. I have such an awesome Pumpkin kitty.

New World Of Coke Museum
Unfriendly, Mariposa and her beau and our high school buddy, Talon, went here a couple of days before New Year's. The camera battery died though, so this is all I got.

Car Trauma Part 1
The first Thursday of school, a 17 year old kid merged into my car. He had turned out to oncoming traffic (me) , so I thought whoever it was didn't look before turning onto the road. It was foggy and slippery out, so I quickly moved into the left hand lane to avoid rear ending him or attempting to brake suddenly and have me spin out or not stop. Well, I guess he thought I'd still be behind him and slowing down so he was surprised when his car connected with mine.

In short, the cop cited him and his folks' insurance paid for my damage.

Oh, and see all the junk in the garage? That's why my car wasn't in the garage when....

Car Drama Part II
The following Monday, I was damn proud of myself for getting out of the house on time to get to work by 7:00 am. As I'm opening my door, I look in the backseat and see this. Monday sucks bad enough. Having to call the cops to report vandalism made Monday 1,000,000 times as sucky.

Il a neigé!
Fast forward to two weeks ago on Wed evening. It was SNOWING! I was actually kind of geeked out to see it. I was not happy that life didn't shut down as I had hoped. So, I had to drive to Athens with my ghetto fabulous taped up, scratched up car in below 30 degree weather. Joyous.

... but you have to admit...snowmen are pretty cool. Even when they look like ...
It seems that kids that rarely see snow get very, very excited about it. When I lived in MI, I rarely saw kids outside really playing in the snow.

Glitzy's Birthday!
Shortly after the New Year's holiday, I had a birthday. The kitty cats got me the plush Gorey Kitty I had wanted for so long and Unfriendly did really well and got me my fourth piece of Swarovski silver crystal.

I had a Piglet obsession in my early to mid twenties. In part, I identify with him because he's such a scaredy cat but ends up doing the thing that scared him the most and come out unscathed. He's also sooooo cute.

Unfriendly's Birthday!

Unfriendly had a birthday last week as well. I got up super duper early to make him these cupcakes. I hid them in the fridge and started his birthday pot roast in the slow cooker to overpower the chocolaty aroma. He was pretty surprised.

Though he didn't get the motorcycle he wanted, he did get the five DVD limited edition of Bladerunner. He was extremely happy about that.

Why don't I get a birthday tuna cake?
Pooky celebrated Unfriendly's birthday by attempting to wrap himself up as present for him. I think he wants his bat bug toy to be the bow.

    Happy birthday to you two!

    Sorry I didn't say it sooner :)

That's a great tactic for taking care of those dogs...the other thing that shuts them up is food! That's what my dad used to do with the neighbors dog. For some reason it seems when you give them food, they no longer bark when they see you (at least in this case) they just look at you with drooling mouths :D

Hey what's up with the vandalism? At your new house? That's terrible, you gonna set up a cam with a motion sensor in your driveway now to catch the next one? That's really stupid people can't respect other peoples property...time to keep a baseball bat handy!

    Take it easy.

Sunshine After Way Too Many Clouds
My sister is much better!

I actually had a conversation with her on Monday. Her MS like symptoms are gone and her anxiety has subsided. It's nice to be able to talk with her again. I was and am so happy. Funny. No one gets on my nerves like my sister... I'm actually looking forward to arguing with her again.

In other news:

  • I had a surprise visit from my high school friend, Mariposa. I got to meet her new beau, who is just terrific. I'm hoping for marriage hopefully by 2009.
  • The dogs have quieted a bit. More on that in another post.
  • School has started up yet again. Hopefully my Thurs class will also be good.
  • Unfriendly and I are in the process of painting our office. It's going to be legen...wait for it..dary!

This Is Just Not Right
The only thing that makes me slightly happy is that it is snowing in A2 but not here...hopefully it won't.

I so do not like winter at all.
